WHY WORKSHOPS ARE IMPORTANT
The workshop is the vehicle by which a student learns the “know how” of performing. It is a class in which the student acquires performance experience with guidance from the teacher in a non-formal atmosphere.
Performances secure repertoire mastery. Special skills are required to bring a piece to a performance level. When a piece can be performed well in front of an audience, the mastery of that piece is better secured because one works harder to learn his/her pieces for any performance. The ability acquired to overcome nervousness while concentrating (which the performer can and will find out only while performing) is another important benefit of the workshop.
Performances develop gracefulness and good social poise, which is necessary not only for success at more demanding performances, such as competitions, auditions, recitals, etc., but also in personal growth.
The far reaching benefits of performance workshops are numerous and only those involved can fully realize how sensitively personal and essential workshops can be for a student.
